The Mascarene Islands which consist of Mauritius, Rodrigues and Réunion were formed
by volcanoes. Millions of years ago, volcanoes erupted in the sea on the oor of the
Indian Ocean. After a very long time and after many eruptions, the volcanoes emerged
from the sea to form our islands.
