The Mascarene Islands which consist of Mauritius, Rodrigues and Réunion were formed
by volcanoes. Millions of years ago, volcanoes erupted in the sea on the oor of the
Indian Ocean. After a very long time and after many eruptions, the volcanoes emerged
from the sea to form our islands.
