Now look at Map 12.
It shows Le Morne Mountain and its surroundings seen (vertically) from above. Lines
have been drawn on Map 12 to show places having the same height above sea level.
These lines are called contour lines.
A contour line is a line drawn on a map to join all the places that have the same height.
For example, the contour line 100 m on Map 12 is a line joining all the places which
are 100 metres above sea level. The contour line 300 m shows the height of the land at
places which are 300 metres above sea level.
