other sailors, stayed for a short time
on the island. They found plenty of food
and water in the north of the island. This
place is now known as Port Mathurin.
It is the capital of the island.
However, after a short stay on the
island, Harmensen sailed to Mauritius.
In Port Mathurin, a street has been
named after him.
